Family Vacation

Hey everyone!

We just got back from one of our favorite vacation spots here in the US and although it was quite different than normal we had an absolute great time. First, I'd like to start this post with.. we did abide by recommendations in regards to Covid-19, wore a mask, did not got out to eat, and stayed way more than 6 feet apart from anyone else (just how I like to on vacation).

For the last 3 years my family and I have visited the Bonita Springs/North Naples area in Florida. It's an absolutely perfect getaway for us, there are little tourists, very little high rises, and a low key family friendly atmosphere.

This year, unfortunately, we weren't able to have Alex come with us but we made the absolute best of this vacation and had Auntie Tay join us! She is an amazing friend who loves the kids and traveling. With the virus, we didn't go out to eat or really venture to much out of the house. What we did do is use Door Dash and GrubHub to deliver dinner. I also had all of our groceries ready for pick up after we landed.

When we visit the area we rent an AirBnB, whether that is a larger house when we have the kids with us or a condo when it is just my husband and I. When searching for a home make sure the pool is southern facing if you love the sun. Northern facing pools will receive less sunlight during the day. I always choose a pool that doesn't have any cover, I personally prefer an open air option.

Buffalo Chips: The most unique restaurant I have ever visited. This restaurant is not for the faint of heart. Please picture a motel, trailer park, and restaurant all in one. The wings are amazing! This time around I had the buffalo burger and Taylor had the quarter lb burger.

Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille: The best date night my husband and I have ever had. The food, the atmosphere, and oh my the key lime pie is amazing. It is a bit of a drive from Bonita since technically the restaurant is located in Ft Meyers but definitely worth the drive.

Coconut Jack's Waterfront Grille: Every time I go I get a lazy lobster roll and calamari. My goodness, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Taylor and I both got the lobster roll and although the roll tastes better accompanied by the atmosphere it was just as good in a to go container.

The Fish House: Although the restaurant has similar atmosphere to Coconut Jacks there are a few key items I enjoy that Coconut Jacks doesn't have. A few of my favorites are: Fish Taco's with grouper (you HAVE to get grouper while in FL), Coconut shrimp basket, and the Lobster Mac-N-Cheese.

Ice Cream

Royal School Homemade Ice Cream: My personal favorite, make sure you take a photo on the cow and don't forget to order a waffle bowl.

Sweet Melissa's Ice Cream Shoppe: Another great local option, they also serves up key lime pie. If you visit Coconut Jack's before hand your receipt will come with a coupon to Sweet Melissa's!

As I had mentioned above this time we didn't frequent the beach because of the virus. We were able to dip Mavericks feet in and take some photos for 45 min or so, which truthfully was enough for us!

Our top 3 favorite beaches are... Bonita Beach, Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park Beach, and Bluebill Beach
